Gossip Girl is a teen drama which premiered on September 19, 2007 in the United States on The CW. Gossip Girl is based on the young-adult book series of the same name written by Cecily von Ziegesar, and was developed for television by The O.C. creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. The series follows the lives of the young, wealthy, and social elite residing in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, and is narrated by an unseen and seemingly omniscient character, "Gossip Girl", whose blog is widely read among the characters.
After the first three episodes were aired, the series received a full season order of 22 episodes from The CW. Due to the 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike, only thirteen episodes were produced. Once the strike ended, The CW announced five more episodes to be produced and aired in April and May 2008, bringing the first season to 18 episodes. The series' second season received a 25 episode order, with episode 24 of that season serving as a backdoor pilot to a spin-off that would have focused on the character Lily van der Woodsen and her life in Los Angeles during the 1980s, though the series was never picked up by The CW. The series' third and fourth seasons received full 22 episode orders. As of February 28, 2011, a total of 82 episodes of Gossip Girl have aired.

After the series resorted in vacating their timeslot for a break, they are coming back once more to stir the night. And of course, what is notable to think here is that, we will be seeing our lovely stars once again in this series. As Lily (Kelly Rutherford) awaits the consequences of her decision, William van der Woodsen (guest star Billy Baldwin), CeCe (guest star Caroline Lagerfelt) and Lily's sister, Carol (guest star Sheila Kelley), come into town to support her and be part of a Taschen photo shoot on "modern royalty" in which the Rhodes family is participating. Unbeknownst to Carol, who has always chosen to keep her daughter Charlie (guest star Kaylee DeFer) far away from the Upper East Side, Charlie has followed her to New York to meet Serena (Blake Lively) and the rest of the family. Blair (Leighton Meester) has an epiphany about her future, and grapples with the knowledge of whom she's destined to be with. Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick, Jessica Szohr and Matthew Settle also star. J. Miller Tobin directed the episode written by Jessica Queller.
